Monday 22nd June, 8:00am – 8:45am
A half-hour practical, guided session for Scotland’s health and social care workforce to pause, breathe and reset—with simple breathwork and relaxation techniques that can be used straight away, no experience needed.
Fiona Douglas, Wellbeing Lead at the Scottish Ambulance Service, will facilitate this session, aimed at offering participants time out of their normal day to focus on their own wellbeing.
The session will be an interactive workshop, including breathwork, a progressive muscle relaxation and focused time to recharge, leaving participants with tools they can continue to use after the session to improve their own wellbeing.
No equipment or previous experience is necessary, this will be a very informal session, everyone is welcome.
Fiona will stay on the call at the end of the 30 minute practical session to take feedback and answer any questions participants might have about the role breathwork and mindfulness can play in health and wellbeing, and her experiences of using these techniques in a workplace setting.

Gratitude journaling gives us space to appreciate ourselves and our day-to-day experiences. Regular practice nurtures a supportive mindset and protects from negative thinking. We will learn how to journal as a practical way to take care of your mental health.

Monday 22nd June, 10:00am – 10:45am
An exploration of the 6 Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine as outlined by the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
The session will delve further into each pillar: Mental Wellbeing, Minimising Harmful Substances, Healthy Relationships, Healthy Eating, Sleep and Physical Activity.
Current research will be examined, with view to establishing which adjustments to lifestyle produce the biggest improvements to our health and wellbeing. Behaviour change will be discussed in relation to the practicalities of applying and maintaining healthy habits.

Monday 22nd June, 10:30am – 11:15am
This session explores the critical role sleep plays in overall wellbeing, performance, and mental health. It will touch upon the science behind sleep, the impact of sleep deprivation, and the restorative benefits of napping. Attendees will gain practical strategies to improve sleep quality, understand how short naps can enhance energy and focus, and leave with actionable tools to support their daily wellbeing as busy health and social care professionals.

Monday 22nd June, 11:00am – 12:00pm
This session, “Enhancing Practitioner Wellbeing with Values-Based Reflective Practice (VBRP): Advancing Person-Centred Care through Reflective Practice,” will introduce attendees to the VBRP® model, a group reflection model designed to help practitioners reconnect with their core values and motivations. Through facilitated VBRP®, participants will gain a structured framework to reflect on the intersection of their personal values and professional experiences, fostering a deeper understanding of how these elements influence their daily practice.
The session will cover how VBRP® supports reflective practice, enabling health and social care professionals across various disciplines to deliver compassionate, safe, and person-centred care. Attendees will explore the importance of values-based practice in enhancing emotional awareness and resilience, ultimately contributing to improved wellbeing and effective care delivery.

Monday 22nd June, 11:00am – 12:00pm
This session, ‘Practical Exercise for Chair-Based Staff’, is designed to address the unique physical challenges faced by individuals who spend most of their working hours seated. Participants will be guided through a series of simple yet effective exercises and stretches tailored for the office environment, aimed at improving posture, alleviating discomfort, and promoting overall wellbeing. The session encourages staff to integrate these movements into their daily routines, supporting both physical health and productivity.

Advertising the availability of one of the national programmes, the Workforce Specialist Service (WSS), a service for regulated practitioners working in healthcare. So far, the service has treated over 2000 people from NHSScotland, Health and Social Care.

Monday 22nd June, 1:00pm – 2:00pm
This session will introduce the suite of mental health services provided at NHS 24, will talk about the Breathing Space service (free phone line and webchat service to anyone aged 16+ living in Scotland) and share a bit about the partnership and engagement activity that the Breathing Space Coordination Team are involved with across Scotland. This session is delivered to colleagues, workplaces and with community groups/organisations across the county.

Monday 22nd June, 3:30pm – 4:15pm
While worry is a normal part of being human, it can cause distress, anxiety, and unease. Worry is caused by thoughts focusing on the past or the future, fear, and uncertainty. Often it isn’t the situation which causes worry but the sense that we will be unable to cope.
This short session will introduce participants to techniques to reduce the impact of worry and find practical ways to deal with problems.

Monday 22nd June, 5:30pm – 6:30pm
Join us for a 1-hour session as we explore Self Care and Leadership through the lens of hurry and constantly being busy.
We will explore hurry and the impact on us and others, before taking the current research on spaciousness as a practice. We will then draw this together to in a practical approach to self-care which can be applied to support ourselves, our teams, and our organisational culture.

Monday 22nd June, 7:00pm – 7:15pm
Feeling busy, distracted, or stuck in “always on” mode? This short and practical session offers a chance to pause, reset, and recharge during the workday. We’ll briefly explore some of the benefits of mindfulness, take part in a guided 10-minute body scan to help reduce tension and improve focus, and finish with some simple tips and resources to support wellbeing beyond the session. No previous mindfulness experience needed.
